Abdul Aziz Mohamadu transforms seasoned sese wood into a beautiful African mask. Embellished with applications of aluminum repoussé, the beautiful visage is at once serious and dramatic. An eagle poses atop its head. The artisan names his original mask Asaase ye duru mask, an Akan phrase meaning "the earth is potent."

Received my second mask by Abdul Aziz, The Earth is Potent and again another truly magnificent piece. The design, coloring and use of metal are truly striking and the piece is large giving real sense of presence hanging on the wall. Very happy with purchase, a true honor to have in my home.

Abdul is such a talented craftsman and artist, as well. I have had this beautiful box sitting on my coffee table for quite some time now. My apologies to Abdul for the overdue review. Thanks again, Abdul!

The mask lacks vibrance. The colors are dull. Very Primitive in nature. The red doesnt appear as vivid as the photo. The size is nice. I recognize that one cant duplicate a mask over and over exactly due to it being handmade.
